Rocking Your Bump | Glamour Maternity

There is a growing trend out there with glamour maternity sessions.  You’ve seen these woman… 30 plus weeks pregnant, ready to pop, standing in a field in a sheer gown and a flower crown, GLOWING, totally rocking their baby bump!  I’m sure you are thinking to yourself, there is no way I could pull that off.  While, I cannot personally tell you how empowering the experience is, I asked some of my HMP mommas to tell you!

I have four women, who I all shot last year, tell me what it was like to rock their bump!  Read their stories below and make sure to leave them some love! xoxo

“After seeing incredible pictures of what seemed like model sized pregnant woman I decided that enough is enough.  The mainstream fashion industry can favor the tall-skinny population but why pregnancy pictures.  All women of different shapes and sizes are beautiful when growing a tiny human.  This process of growing people is tough and not so hot at times but I wanted to do something to help me remember the beautiful times.  I contacted Heather and asked if she wanted to do one of those ‘fancy glamour pregnancy shoots’ with my 8.5 month pregnant self.  Being it was the dead of winter I was worried how it would look being outside with not the liveliest scenery.  Heather was so amazing and made me feel so comfortable although it was 40 degrees out and I was close to naked in a public park! She made this very pregnant, very un-model type girl feel and look so amazing.  When I saw what I looked like it was so empowering and I love that she is sharing with the world that even those who aren’t a size 2 or 4 you can still own your glowing beauty just the same.” ~ Caroline

“Carrying my son was the most  amazing experience.  I am so grateful that Heather Michelle Photography was able to capture me in all of my 9 month glory!  I decided to change my session up with my last baby and try out a ‘whimsical theme’ because that was exactly how I felt throughout my pregnancy;  I could not believe I was finally having a boy! Obviously, at 9 months pregnant I was a little self conscious and had bulges where bulges shouldn’t be, but Heather made me feel so comfortable and beautiful!  I can’t thank her enough for capturing some truly spectacular moments and I so glad that I have them to treasure for years to come!  I highly recommend Heather Michelle Photography to all of my friends and family.  She just gets it and by far, is the best photographer in South Jersey!” ~ Melanie

“Since the passing of my boyfriend I realized how important it is to capture life’s moments for all to have to look back on. These are the things(besides memories) that we cherish when we no longer have the person with us. I have never had professional photos taken, and honestly don’t have too many “good” pics of me with my family since I’m usually the one behind the lens capturing our daily lives.  For my first pregnancy I had a friend do an unprofessional shoot with my boyfriend and bump which turned out “okay”, but my expectations were high and unfortunately not met. When I got pregnant with my second child I thought about capturing this chapter in my life as well but was torn on whether to take the plunge and have it done professionally or not. While on a “babymoon” with my daughter I saw that Heather Michelle Photography now was offering maternity shoots. Knowing how short life truly is I decided to take the plunge and reach out to her, this time I wanted the pictures to meet my expectations.  Heather and I grew up together in a small town by the Delaware River and when she suggested this as the backdrop to the shoot i couldn’t of been happier. Heather also suggested sunset as a time and offered to style me. Knowing that I have a daughter she offered to take some shots with her in there as well!! I was beyond excited and couldn’t wait for the “date.”  When i got to the location and put on the lovely “gown” and amazing “head piece” (that Heather had just created) I truly felt like a beautiful goddess. Heather was amazing throughout the shoot, telling me where to stand, where to look, whether to smile big or soft, and telling me how beautiful I looked and how great I was doing. This of course helped with my confidence and put me more at ease.  Before leaving Heather let me preview some of the pics which left me in awe and now impatience. When she sent me the pics a week or so later I was truly amazed, not only did Heather meet my expectations, she exceeded them!! I am so so so very happy that I had a professional capture this incredible chapter in my life!! My only regret is I didn’t have it professionally done the first time. So if you’re on the fence definitely take the plunge, have the pics done and definitely have Heather Michelle Photography behind the lens, you will not be disappointed!!” ~ Kim

“Working in labor and delivery, I see a lot of pregnant women-I mean, A LOT. I’ve always thought that pregnant women were SO beautiful. They had a natural glow and always were so, so stunning to me. Then I got pregnant and wow, let me tell you, I did not feel like one of those glowy, gorgeous women. I felt frumpy and very unattractive. When Heather suggested a bare the bump shoot, I said yes before I could say no. I knew if I thought too much about it, I would chicken out-i mean, I wouldn’t even let my husband take weekly bump pictures. I am SO thankful I went through with this shoot! Heather made me feel so calm and confident and they’re really the only pictures I have of my bump! I look back at them now and love them. They make me miss being pregnant! If it weren’t for Heather and her pure talent, I would have missed out on some of the greatest, once in a lifetime pictures-pictures of my sweet, first born, baby boy!” ~ Colleen
